Dear Ms Cummings

I refer to the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and to your email to this service dated 3 August 2018.

In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act, we are able to grant access to the records requested and accordingly they are as follows:

You requested:
Can you provide details of the last time you carried out a structural survey of LPS blocks, what the survey found, and whether any action was taken as a result.

Can you also provide a list of the names of LPS blocks the organisation owns, and which LPS blocks have been demolished while under your organisation's control

Gateshead only has one LPS building - Crowhall Towers.

The last survey was done 2nd February 2016.

Block is 15 storeys, with a public house and community centre on the ground floor. The ground floor is formed in reinforced concrete. The remainder of the block is formed in large panel system construction. Additional connections were retro fitted during the 1970's to provide protection against accidental loading.

The survey concluded that the multi storey block is generally good. Internally the retro fitted steel angels were visible and both angles and bolts were in good condition. Access was available to communal areas including stairwells and all concrete was in good condition with no signs of defects. Externally there was one cracked panel that should be monitored and the roof covering required some repair. No remedial works or actions were required as a result of the survey.
