Dear Greenwich Borough Council,
Under the Freedom of Information Act, I kindly request the following information regarding Education Health Care Plans (EHCP).
1. How many children/ young people between the ages of 0-25 years old in your local authority have a statement of Special Educational Needs or an EHCP?
2. How many children/ young people who have an EHCP received their statement within the time frame set by the government?
3. Of those who did not receive their EHCP on time, what is the reason for this?
4. what is the reason for delay in assessing, processing and awarding an EHCP?

Our response is as follows:
1. How many children/ young people between the ages of 0-25 years
old in your local authority have a statement of Special Educational Needs
or an EHCP?
As of 18^th Jan 2018, a total of 1648 children have a statement of SEN or
an EHCP.
2. How many children/ young people who have an EHCP received their
statement within the time frame set by the government?
2015 2016 2017
Total number of new statements /EHCPs issued per calendar 130 184 149
year
...of which were issued within the timeframe set by the 59 18 33
government
3. Of those who did not receive their EHCP on time, what is the
reason for this
There has been a significant increase in new requests. The service was
until recently carrying a number of key vacancies. It has been a priority
for the local authority to complete all of the conversions from statement
of SEN to EHC Plans.
4. what is the reason for delay in assessing, processing and awarding an
EHCP?
