FOI, DPA and Information Governance

The request was partially successful.

Dear North Yorkshire County Council,

Please could you answer the following under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

• How many staff do you have with a primary/sole role of dealing with FOIs/SARs and what grade they are?
• How many staff do you have working in 'information governance', inclusive of those working on FOIs/SARs?
• Where does information governance sit in your organisation? A structure chart would suffice.
• Who is your SIRO and your DPO? Whilst I appreciate this is personal data, such senior roles are unlikely to warrant application of the exemption at section 40(2) of the Act.
• How many FOI requests did you receive in 2016, 2017 and 2018 to date?
• How many subject access requests did you receive in 2016, 2017 and 2018 to date?
• Which, if any, case management system do you use for recording FOIs and SARs?

Yours faithfully,

Lesley Chimaca

Dear Ms Chimaca,

Thank you for your Freedom of Information Request regarding FOI, DPA and
Information Governance.

Please see our responses to your requests in red below.

1) How many staff do you have with a primary/sole role of dealing with
FOIs/SARs and what grade they are?

2) How many staff do you have working in 'information governance',
inclusive of those working on FOIs/SARs?

In regards to questions 1 and 2, this is outsourced to Veritau Ltd, which
acts as our information governance team. As they provide this service for
multiple councils, it may be difficult for them to separate out individual
employees responsible for North Yorkshire County Council FOIs. However, if
you would like to contact them you can do so at
[1][North Yorkshire Council request email].

3) Where does information governance sit in your organisation? A structure
chart would suffice.

As stated above, this is outsourced to Veritau Ltd. Veritau report on the
delivery of the service to the Corporate Director – Strategic Resources
(and SIRO).

4) Who is your SIRO and your DPO? Whilst I appreciate this is personal
data, such senior roles are unlikely to warrant application of the
exemption at section 40(2) of the Act.

Gary Fielding (Corporate Director - Strategic Resources) is our SIRO. Our
Data Protection Officer is Veritau Ltd.

5) How many FOI requests did you receive in 2016, 2017 and 2018 to date?

2016: 1260

2017: 1294

2018 to date: 729 (as of 27/06/2018)

6) How many subject access requests did you receive in 2016, 2017 and 2018
to date?

2016: 170

2017: 291

2018 to date: 116 (as of 27/06/2018)

7) Which, if any, case management system do you use for recording FOIs and
SARs?

We do not use a case management system for recording FOIs and SARs.

Yours sincerely,
