Dear Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport's handling of my FOI request 'FOI - Discussions with ICO with reference to the Age Appropriate Design Code/EdTech within schools'.

Whilst I can fully understand that the formulation of Government Policy is an essential aspect of the operations of any government, and the need for a safe space for discussions to take place is increasingly vital, the lack of any accountability on this is concerning.

The dominating questions within the FOI request were whether meetings had been held to discuss the two areas. A partial response which establishes whether meetings had been held allows for a greater understanding about how policy is formed and also helps to indicate whether additional public awareness is needed. Should meetings not have been held, this also helps to identify where engagement with our own MPs to raise their awareness is needed.

A complete refusal to respond, using an exception to cover all areas, is excessive and I not sure how this would meet your findings in the public interest test.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/f...

Yours faithfully,

John Coren

FOI Mailbox,

Dear Mr Coren,
Please accept our apologies for the delay in responding to this. It
appears your original email was not logged as an internal review due to an
administrative error and therefore a response has not been processed.
I have sought to rectify this though and have raised a case for this now
and will send you an acknowledgement from our system as confirmation.
This means a response will of course be delayed, but I shall try and
process this as quickly as possible.
Please again accept our apologies for this oversight.
Kind regards
Jamie
