FOI: Appointment of Tony Abbott to Board of Trade

Currently waiting for a response from Department for International Trade, they should respond promptly and normally no later than (details).

Dear FOI team

I am seeking information about the recent appointment of former Australian PM Tony Abbott to the UK Board of Trade.

Specifically, I would like copies of all documents within the Department regarding Mr Abbott's possible appointment to the position, including documents created before he was formally offered the role.

This should also include any documents discussing his recent trip to the UK to discuss the role, and the restrictions on Mr Abbott’s travel into the country (due to the Australian travel ban).

Secondly, if not included in the above, I would also like details of the salary and expenses Mr Abbott is being paid to undertake this role.

I exclude from this request any media clippings and media summaries about the matter in question.

Best wishes
William Summers

Dear FOI team

This request is now overdue. Can you please provide a response ASAP?

Thanks,
William Summers

Dear Department for International Trade,

I am writing to request an internal review of the Department's handling of my FOI request 'Appointment of Tony Abbott to Board of Trade' (FOI reference number FOI2019/04250).

A response to this request was due on 2 October , meaning it is now more than two weeks overdue (or 5 October by the Department's reckoning, which I think is wrong but nonetheless still makes the response well overdue). I would therefore like to request either a) a response is supplied immediately; or b) this is escalated via an internal review to determine why a response has so for not been forthcoming. This does not seem to be a particularly complex request.

Yours faithfully,

William Summers

Dear FOI team

Thank you for your response, informing me my request was too broad in scope to process within the Act. I therefore wish to limit the scope of this request as follows:

All correspondence directly between Tony Abbott and Secretary of State for International Trade (and President of the Board of Trade) Liz Truss, or her ministerial office, regarding Mr Abbott's possible appointment to the Board of Trade.

I will also limit the time period for this request to correspondence sent up to and including 4 September 2020, the day his position was confirmed.

Yours sincerely,

William Summers
