FOI and fact check- Gypsies, Roma and Travellers

The request was refused by University of Bath.

Dear University of Bath,

I am a BBC News journalist working on a story about the experience of Gypsies, Roma and Travellers (GRT) in Higher Education in the UK. The questions I want to fact check have a deadline of this Friday 27 midday. I have sent this to the all of the top 10 universities.

I would like to ask simply:

a) Do you measure how many students who identify as Gypsies, Roma or Travellers attend your university each year?
b) Do you recognise GRT as a group which needs specific outreach programmes?

The FOI, which has a normal deadline of 20 days:
c) Do you have the numbers of students who identify as GRT who attended your university in the last three academic years and their attainment?

Yours faithfully,

Poppy Damon

Poppy, I am entirely happy to log this as an FOI request, but you won't get a reply in 45 hours, I am afraid. (We have a legal obligation to respond within 20 working days.)

If you require a response so soon, you should speak to our press office, whose general email address I have copied in. Their phone number is 01225 386319.

Please advise whether you wish to continue with this as an FOI request or not, or just question 'c' which is preceded by a reference to FOI timescales..

Regards John

Hi Poppy,

As John says, let us know if the a) and b) parts of your question should be treated as a media request.

Best wishes,

Poppy, given contact by your colleagues with our press office last week, and my emails, please could you confirm what parts of this email are still live in FOI terms? Is it just question c?

Thanks John

The third question is still an FOI request.
