Dear Amanda

Thank you for your email to Highways England dated 13 August regarding
speed limits on the M1.
To be able to give you accurate information we will need the
following information,

* Time of Journey
* Gantry number or marker post if available
* Vehicle registration
* Contact telephone number

The M1 in that area is smart motorway so the speed limit changes to suit
road and traffic conditions.
If the enquiry is in relation to a speeding offence all the information we
require will be on the Notice Of Intended Prosecution.

Thank you again for contacting us and I hope that this helps with your
enquiry.

Smith, Richard,

Good morning Amanda

The information you have requested is information we make available to the
public on a regular basis. Your request has been handled under normal
business practices and not in accordance with the Freedom of Information
Act/Environmental Information Regulations.

Your enquiry doesn’t mention a specific time and sate. The speed limit
between junctions 30 and 31 of the M1 is 70mph unless a motorway signal is
illuminated and displays a lower speed limit.

If you have a specific date and time in mind, please let me know and I
will check the signal settings records for you.

Regards

Richard Smith
