FOI 194640 Towing Ocean Nomad, Princess, Vanguard.

Gordon C Stalker made this Freedom of Information request to Scottish Environment Protection Agency Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Scottish Environment Protection Agency,
I have previously submitted this request as FOI 194640.
This is not a new request. My request was as follows:
"I note the MV Rota Endurance has departed Invergordon for Aliaga, Turkey towing
either the Ocean Princess or Nomad oil rig, which were detained by SEPA in the
Cromarty Firth for years.
1. Could you please advise which rig is on tow and if it is manned or unmanned.
2. If unmanned could you please advise how the tow will be reconnected if lost.
3. Could you please advise windage calculations for rig concerned compared
with Rota Endurance bollard pull.
4. If you do not have this information can you please advise who does."

SEPA response of 27/10/22 was that the drilling rig on tow is the Ocean Nomad and referred me to ROTA for further info. As ROTA is not a public organisation or registered in UK they are exempt from FOI. These rigs could have been safely removed by heavy lift ship if not detained by SEPA. Now they are on a long, risky tow by an under powered anchor handler.
