Fleet of vehicles for in-house Highways service

The request was successful.

Dear Cumbria County Council,

Last year you announced a new fleet of front line vehicles to maintain Cumbria’s roads had been purchased by Cumbria County Council as part of its new in-house highways service. The fleet of nearly 150 vehicles represented an investment of over £7m by Cumbria County Council to improve and maintain the county’s roads.

1. Can you please state how many of these vehicles were subsequently found to be surplus to requirement?

2. If any vehicles were found to be surplus to requirement, what was their total value?

3. If any vehicles were found to be surplus to requirement, how were they disposed of (e.g. kept in storage, returned to and value refunded by supplier, sold off) and how much of their original value (as a percentage) recouped by the council?

4. Who was responsible for purchasing the fleet of vehicles for highways and/or any consequent surplus ordering?

Yours faithfully,

E Wilson

Two answers for the price of one...unusual. Why offer information I did not ask for?
