First aid supplies and training

The request was successful.

Dear Highways England Company Limited,

Please can you provide me with the below information -

1) how much do you currently pay for first aid training courses for your traffic officers

2) how many courses per annum do you book

3) do your vehicles carry defibrillators? And if so how much did each unit cost?

4) what first aid equipment do your highways TO vehicles carry

5) whom is responsible for sourcing such services and equipment within your organisation?

6) I've previously been informed all traffic officers are trained to emergency first aid level only, would you be interested in a one day course provided by us that includes recognition of fractures, mechanisms of injury within RTC's and basic head immobilisation? (All key when attending RTC's prior to ambulance attendance).

Many thanks

Yours faithfully,

Courtney Davies

Courtney

I am writing to confirm that we have now completed our search for the
information, which you requested on 5^th  February 2018.

A copy of the information you requested is attached.  Please see below the
response to your enquiry:

1) how much do you currently pay for first aid training courses for your
traffic officers

£1140 exc vat per day.

2) how many courses per annum do you book

Approximately 80 per annum.

3) do your vehicles carry defibrillators? And if so how much did each unit
cost?

Currently, traffic officer vehicles do not carry defibrillators.

4) what first aid equipment do your highways TO vehicles carry

A basic first aid kit is carried in all vehicles together with a
resuscitation aid which includes plastic sheeting with one-way valve
mouthpiece.

5) whom is responsible for sourcing such services and equipment within
your organisation?

This would depend on what is required and whether there are existing
contracts in place to meet the need. New equipment will have to firstly be
agreed via organisation’s governance processes with options sought via the
Highways England Procurement Team.

6) I've previously been informed all traffic officers are trained to
emergency first aid level only, would you be interested in a one day
course provided by us that includes recognition of fractures, mechanisms
of injury within RTC's and basic head immobilisation? (All key when
attending RTC's prior to ambulance attendance).

We currently have a provider who delivers bespoke first aid training which
currently fulfils our training requirement.
