Dear Ms Smith

I write in response to your request for information dated 18.09.2017
concerning incidents attended by Avon Fire & Rescue Service for calls made
about fireworks being posted through letterboxes.

Your request for information has been dealt with under the terms of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and I can confirm that Avon Fire &
Rescue Service holds some information falling within the description
specified within your request.

We do not have a specific recording category that will readily identify
fire incidents that were started by fireworks being posted through letter
boxes.  However, there is a recording category for ignition source for
‘fireworks’ on our Incident Recording System (IRS), and if we do have such
incidents, it is most likely be recorded as item first damaged as
‘furniture/fittings’.

If you would like to view incidents which have been recorded where the
ignition source is ‘fireworks’,  AF&RS publish incident data on our
website which you can download via the following link for each month of
the current financial year 2017/18 and for previous data from October 2008
– March 2009 and complete financial years’ from 2009/10:
 [1]https://www.avonfire.gov.uk/our-performa... Our
incident data will also provide property type.

The data is presented on our website in a CSV spreadsheet format and you
can apply your own searches via the filter function. Please find some
possible filters that best fits your request.  If there are no incidents
for a financial year with the below filter options, then we have no such
incidents.
