Fires at Forestry Commission sites
Dear Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service,
Could you please tell me how many calls to fires were attended each year, for the past five years, for the following Forestry Commission sites:
- Haughmond Hill (Newport Road, Shrewsbury SY4 4PW)
- Eastridge Woods (Habberley SY5 0TP)
- Kinsley Wood (Knighton LD7 1DT)
- Hopton Wood (Craven Arms SY7 0QF)
- Mortimer Forest
Can I also ask for the total number of hours spent at fires for each year of the past five years too please?
I am aware that sometimes incidents are reported vaguely such as "the woods off of London Road" without the full address. Please could you do your best to capture these incidents too when they are on Forestry Commission land. Could you also include any other Forestry Commission sites that you cover that I may have missed please.
Yours faithfully,
D. Schofield
Dear Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service,
In regards to my FOI request, I have been trying to find digital maps to assist with my request and capture Forestry Commission land that hasn't been listed as well as show the boundaries of the land. I have been told by the Forestry Commission that "The information you seek is publicly available. There are a number of online sources that provide details of Forestry Commission sites, including: the Forestry Commission map browser and Land Information Search available at
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/use-the-land...
Or the Defra MAGIC map available at https://magic.defra.gov.uk/ "
I hope this will assist you further in fulfilling my request.
Yours faithfully,
D. Schofield

Dear team,
Thank you for your response to my enquiry, 'Fires at Forestry Commission sites'. Can I clarify if the total times you provided are incident time or appliance time? For example, if two appliances were called to the same incident, the times for both appliances spent on scene were combined to show overall time spent by resources.
If only total incident times were provided , would you be able to provide appliance time for each incident too please?
Yours sincerely,
D. Schofield
Good Afternoon
Please find attached the updated spreadsheet with appliance times for each
record and grouped by category on the second sheet.
Kind Regards
Alison Matthews
