Fires at Forestry Commission sites

D. Schofield made this Freedom of Information request to Cumbria County Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was successful.

Dear Cumbria County Council,

Could you please tell me how many calls to fires were attended each year, for the past five years, for the following Forestry Commission sites:

- Dalton Crags Forest (Dalton Lane, Burton-in-Kendal LA6 1NL)
- Eggerslack Woods (Grange-over-Sands LA11 6EE)
- Whitbarrow Forest (Kendal LA11 6SD)
- Grizedale (Hawkshead LA22 0QJ)
- Hardknott (Broughton-in-Furness LA20 6EG)
- Blengdale Forest (Seascale CA20 1EB)
- Ennerdale (CA23 3AS)
- Cogra Moss (Lamplugh CA14 4SH)
- Whinlatter Forest (Keswick CA12 5TW)
- Dodd Wood (Keswick CA12 4QE)
- Setmurthy (Cockermouth CA13 9SQ)
- Coombs Wood (Carlisle)
- High Stand (Carlisle)

Can I also ask for the total number of hours spent at fires for each year of the past five years too please?

I am also aware that sometimes incidents are reported vaguely such as "the woods off of London Road" without the full address. Please could you do your best to capture these incidents too when they are on Forestry Commission land. Could you also include any other Forestry Commission sites that you cover that I may have missed please.

Yours faithfully,

D. Schofield

Dear team

In regards to my FOI request ref 12044-2022, I have been trying to find digital maps to assist with my request and capture Forestry Commission land that hasn't been listed as well as show the boundaries of the land. I have been told by the Forestry Commission that "The information you seek is publicly available. There are a number of online sources that provide details of Forestry Commission sites, including: the Forestry Commission map browser and Land Information Search available at
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/use-the-land...
Or the Defra MAGIC map available at https://magic.defra.gov.uk/ "

I hope this will assist you further in fulfilling my request.

Yours sincerely,

D. Schofield

Dear team,

Thank you for your response to my enquiry, 'Fires at Forestry Commission sites'. May I clarify if the total times you provided are incident time or appliance time? For example, if two appliances were called to the same incident, the times for both appliances spent on scene were combined to show overall time spent by resources.

If only total incident times were provided , would you be able to provide appliance time for each incident too please?

Yours sincerely,

D. Schofield
