Dear Neil Tait,

Your request has been processed in accordance with Freedom of Information
(Scotland) Act 2002.

Thank you for your request for information.

Please see your request below:

 1. Can you tell me the total amount of fires occurring on grasslands in
Scotland since when records began till 2022 separated by year

 2. Can you tell me the total amount of incidents attended because of
flooding in Scotland since when records began till 2022 separated by
year ?

 In response:

 1. I am awaiting statistics to provide the grassland data and will
endeavour to provide this information as soon as possible.

 2. Please see attached an excel worksheet detailing Flooding incidents in
Scotland from 2013 – 2022.  The SFRS do not record data by County but
we have provided information by Council Area in the Summary tab, down
to Ward level in the Flooding Incidents tab.

You will notice a spike in flooding incidents in December 2022.  The
December average over the previous 9 years (2013 – 2021) was 173 flooding
incidents.  In December 2022 we attended nearly 10 times this average.
This was mainly due to a surge in burst water pipes in the Glasgow area
after a sustained cold period (14^th to 18^th Dec).

In line with the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, Scottish Fire
and Rescue Service have in place a procedure by which a review of the way
in which we handle requests for information can be carried out.  If you
are dissatisfied by the way Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have dealt
with your request or about any decision made 21 September 2023.  In doing
so, it would be helpful if you could state the matter, which has given
rise to your dissatisfaction.

Staff not involved in the original decision will handle any review.

Should you not be satisfied with the outcome of our review, you will then
have the right to appeal to the Scottish Information Commissioner within 6
months.  The Commissioner will decide whether your request has been dealt
with properly, in accordance with the Act.
