Fire Expertise

We're waiting for Rupert Tankard to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear North Yorkshire Police and Crime Panel,

I write in dismay after reading this article: http://www.cravenherald.co.uk/news/15439...

Particularly alarming is this:
" North Yorkshire's PCC Julia Mulligan has launched a consultation proposing changes to the way the county’s fire service is overseen.

The PCC says her preferred option is the Governance model, where the PCC takes on legal and overarching responsibility for the provision of the fire services in their area. The services would retain their operational independence, budgets, chief fire officers and their own staff. This option would see the PCC becoming the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority. "

In response to this I respectfully ask that you supply the following information:

1. What expertise Julia Mulligan has with regards to fire service and extinguishing fires?
2. What expertise anyone at the NYPCC who would be responsible for the fire service should this go ahead has with regards to fire service and extinguishing fires?
3. Full minutes of any meetings, reports, internal memos and any documentation related to NYPCC's proposals for the county's fire service.

It is my strong opinion that the fire service should be overseen by experienced firemen. It would be equally illogical for the fire service to oversee the police service.

Yours faithfully,

Rupert Tankard
