I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information from you for the time period 2007 to 2017:

1) How many fire checks have been undertaken at schools in the area covered by your fire department for each of the years mentioned?

2) For each year, I would ask for the number of enforcement notices issued to schools who failed the fire checks undertaken.

Please provide the information in the form an Excel Documents

If it is not possible to provide the information requested due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please provide advice and assistance, under the Section 16 obligations of the Act, as to how I can refine my request.

If you can identify any ways that my request could be refined I would be grateful for any further advice and assistance.

Thank you for your email dated 4^th September 2018, which was received by
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service on 5^th September 2018 , requesting
the following information:

 

“I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request
the following information from you for the time period 2007 to 2017:

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service acknowledges receipt of your
request and confirms that it will respond to you with the information it
holds, unless the information is covered by one of the exemptions in the
Act. We will respond to you as soon as possible, and in any event within
the 20 working days required by the Freedom of Information Act 2000, in
the manner requested. Accordingly, we will respond with the information
that you have requested by 3^rd October 2018.

 

In some circumstances a fee may be payable and if that is the case, I will
let you know. A fees notice will be issued to you, and you will be
required to pay before we will proceed to deal with your request.

 

Exemptions under the Act

Although you may request any information we hold, there are a few
exemptions under the Act that mean that we may not be able to disclose the
information you need. If we decide that we cannot release the information
requested, we will explain which exemption is relevant in this case.

Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has reviewed your request, and we
require further information in order to identify and locate the requested
information. It will not be able to take this matter further without extra
information from you.

Please provide the following additional information:

Please confirm in more detail what you mean by “Fire Check”.

Are you referring to audits carried out by a fire safety inspector under
the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 or are you referring to
visits made by operational crews to obtain risk information should they
need to attend the premises?

Please note when making a request for information it should include the
following details

o The name of the person asking for the information
o An address for correspondence to be sent to
o A description of the information wanted
o The format you would prefer to have the information in. While we will
make every effort to send you the information in the requested format,
we may not always be able to do this.

Until we receive clarification, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service
will consider this information request to be suspended. The 20 working
days to respond will only re-commence when we receive clarification.

If we do not hear from you within one month of the date of this letter we
will assume that you are no longer seeking access to this information and
we will take no further action.
