Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information from you for the time period 2007 to 2017:

1) How many fire checks have been undertaken at schools in the area covered by your fire department for each of the years mentioned?

2) For each year, I would ask for the number of enforcement notices issued to schools who failed the fire checks undertaken.

Please provide the information in the form an Excel Documents

If it is not possible to provide the information requested due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please provide advice and assistance, under the Section 16 obligations of the Act, as to how I can refine my request.

If you can identify any ways that my request could be refined I would be grateful for any further advice and assistance.

I write to acknowledge your email dated 04.09.2018 requesting information
regarding Fire checks and enforcement notices issued to schools by Avon
Fire & Rescue Service.

 

Your request will be dealt with under the terms of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 and you will receive a response within the statutory
timescale of 20 working days as defined by the Act, from the date of
receipt subject to the information not being exempt or containing a
reference to a third party. In some circumstances Avon Fire & Rescue

I write in response to your request for information dated 04.09.2018 concerning fire checks and enforcement notices issued to schools by Avon Fire Authority (operationally known as Avon Fire & Rescue Service) from 2007 to 2017.

Your request for information has been dealt with under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and I can confirm that Avon Fire & Rescue Service holds the information falling within the description specified within your request.

Enforcements served is already available to the public via the Fire & Rescue Service’s Public Register regarding Prohibition, Enforcement and Alteration Notices, which is held on a database within the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) website:

The NFCC website lists the reasons why an enforcement notice has been issued. These reasons are listed as the description under each identified Article, however in most cases, AF&RS’s first course of action would usually be to work with the responsible person to get them to comply before serving a notice on them.
