Dear Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council,

In a recent article in the Liverpool Echo the council fined 4,000 dog owners over £300,000 for dog fouling offences

Please provide the following information:

1.Please supply the number of offences by either ward or area and the time period of the offences
2.Was it Council employees or third party contractors that issue the fines? Please provide a breakdown of figures for number of fines issued?
3.Please supply information relating to where the £300,000 fine revenue has gone?
4.What education programmes or information is offered to dog owners whose dogs have been caught fouling?

I have recorded your request for information under reference F2014.03.113.

This has been passed to the relevant service and you will receive a response by 3 April 2014, as required by law.

In line with guidance published by the Information Commissioner’s Office, the council may make a charge for the provision of information – for example in order to cover the costs of postage (in line with the relevant postal charges) or charges for printing and copying (which will reflect photocopying charges levied by the council’s public libraries).

You will be informed if a fee is to be applied before information is to be provided.

The information in the article reported by the Echo was incorrect.  The
correct article can be found at

The Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) issued included littering offences.

 

To clarify your request for information do you require information just
for the FPNs served for failing to remove dog faeces?
