Thank you for your reply whilst it may be too difficult and costly to collate the form 262; can you please confirm that there are no informal registry file lists related to my request. If this is the case I content to close my FOI request. If such lists exist please release them in response to my request.

Strange reply from MOD. No structured file, either electronic or paper I wonder how do they file papers etc to the appropriate file, no matter.
However, you did not cite a time period in your question - if historic then MOD archives records holdings by way of an electronic index, in fact the index is only held electronically. A search against the branches of interest would/should only take a few minutes.
