Dear Grampian Health Board,

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I would like to request the following information regarding Fertility Preservation for transgender individuals:

1) Does the Grampian Health Board offer Fertility Preservation for transgender individuals?

2) Is a referral from a General Practitioner sufficient enough for transgender individuals to be considered for Fertility Preservation?

3) If a referral from a General Practitioner isn't sufficient enough for transgender individuals to be considered for Fertility Preservation, then could you provide confirmation that the referral would need to come from the Grampian Gender Identity Clinic?

4) In the case that a referral for Fertility Preservation for a transgender individual would need to come from the Gender Identity Clinic, is it possible for transgender individuals to access Fertility Preservation privately on the NHS while the are waiting to be seen by the Gender Identity Clinic?

5) If accessing Fertility Preservation privately on the NHS is an option, could you provide confirmation of the cost of preserving fertility of sperm and eggs and the yearly cost of storage for sperm and eggs?

6) If accessing Fertility Preservation privately on the NHS is an option, is it later possible for a transgender individual to no longer need to pay for the private cost once they have been referred to by the Gender Identity Clinic?

7) For how long can sperm and eggs be kept in storage for?

8) Where would the Fertility Preservation take place within the Grampian Health Board?

9) What is the waiting time to be seen by the NHS for Fertility Preservation once an individual has been referred?

10) If the Grampian Health Board does not offer Fertility Preservation, where can an individual be referred to for Fertility Preservation on the NHS?

If some of the information requested is not possible to provide please provide whatever information possible.
