Dear Mr Brown,

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request dated 03 February 2020, which has been handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

Please accept our apologies for the time it has taken to compile this response.

Your request and our responses are as follows:

Your request 1. What are your policies on two females seeking fertility?

Our response:
Two females can be referred to Basildon Clinics for fertility investigations and we can refer them for NHS funded IVF if required as long as the have had 6 cycles of self funded IUI and meet the funding criteria. ie Hormone profile, age, area etc.

Your request 2. Two men seeking an egg/surrogacy?

Our response:
We don't actually accept Male couples to Basildon Fertility Clinics. Their egg donation/surrogacy is all self funded.

Your request 3. What guidelines are given to GPs to refer is so can you furnish a copy?

Our response:
GPs use the usual Proforma to refer female couples to Basildon - please see the attached document.

I hope that the response that the Trust has provided is satisfactory. However, if you are dissatisfied with the way in which your Freedom of Information request has been dealt with you can request an internal review. Please email [email address] within 40 working days with clarification of what you would like to be reviewed. We will aim to provide a review response within 20 working days.

If you remain dissatisfied, you have the right under section 50 of the Act to apply to the Information Commissioner to seek resolution to the matter. Further details can be found on their website: https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/.
