Failure to Acknowledge a Corsham FOIA Request

Currently waiting for a response from Ministry of Defence, they should respond promptly and normally no later than (details).

Dear Ministry of Defence,
On 23rd August 2020 at 20:48 hours I sent MOD an email as below. I am now sending it again by another route hoping you can acknowledge and respond as is your obligation
Corsham FOIA Request
Dear sir/madam,
I am writing to make an open government request for all the information to which I am entitled under the freedom of information act. In order to assist you with this request, I am outlining my query as specifically as possible. If however this request is too wide or too unclear, I would be grateful if you could contact me as I understand that under the act, you are required to advise and assist requesters.
I am writing to you as Chairman of the Rhydymwyn Valley History Society (RVHS). Over many years, the RVHS have gathered a comprehensive archive concerning the historical use of the Valley site including the associated tunnels. This information has been obtained from many sources, including Government Departments such as H.M. Treasury, the Cabinet Office, Defra, etc.
Following a telephone conversation between myself and Mr Spreadbury-Clews, during which I was informed that I should make my request for information in writing, on 02 July 2020 I made a request to Mr. Spreadbury-Clews (HOE MOD Corsham) asking for all documents concerning the Rhydymwyn Site and Tunnels, currently held by the MOD at Corsham.
Having previously made many Freedom of Information requests, I was surprised that this letter was not acknowledged in any form.
On 06 August 2020, in response to my FOIA request, I received a very short, abrupt email from Mr. Spreadbury-Clews at MOD Corsham, which stated:
“Colin I have had my team review what we have which is minimal and we can find no detail to assist you, sorry.
Nigel Spreadbury-Clews”
As the MOD is aware, this is an appalling response to a Freedom of Information request. The lack of inclusion of a FOIA reference number strongly indicates that MOD Corsham did not treat my request as a Freedom of Information request, something which they are legally bound to do. It also suggests that any search for information was done in haste and has produced a less than thorough result.
I therefore wish to make a Freedom of Information request for all information, currently held either by the Ministry of Defence Corsham, or the Ministry of Defence archives, concerning the historical involvement of MOD Corsham with the Rhydymwyn Valley site and associated tunnels. This information may also have originated from the former Property Services Agency (PSA), but since retained and held within the Ministry of Defence archives.
Please send the information to Colin Barber, Greystones, Lixwm, nr Holywell, CH8 8LY
I understand that under the act, I should be entitled to a response within 20 working days. I would be grateful if you could confirm in writing that you have received this request. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
Yours sincerely,
Colin Barber
Chairman - RVHS
Yours faithfully,
Colin Barber
