Extradition

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Home Office,

Please provide me with a copy of the first ten extradition certificates issued in 2010 under section 70 of the Extradition Act 2003. If no such certificates were issued in 2010, then please provide me with a copy of the first ten issued immediately prior to 2010.

Section 11 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 entitles me to specify a preferred format in which to receive the information I request. I hereby specify that I would like an electronic copy of the original, hand-signed certificates.

Yours faithfully,
Steve Elibank

Dear Home Office,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Home Office's handling of my FOI request 'Extradition'.

If you are concerned that releasing extradition certificates in full would involve revealing the personal information of the criminals to which they relate, then I would suggest that you redact that personal information and release the remaining content.

That is also what the Information Commissioner suggests ("When refusing a request for information, you cannot withhold an entire document because some of the information contained within it is exempt; you must provide a redacted version of the document along with a refusal notice stating why some of the information cannot be released").

It is also what a person with a modicum of common sense would suggest.

I look forward to receiving the results of this Internal Review within 20 working days as per the ICO's timescale.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address:
