Dear Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust,

I am currently conducting some health economics research and would be grateful if you could send me information on how many extra contractual referrals (ECRs) your Trust has made for acute working age adult psychiatric in-patient beds over the last 3 years. This excludes any referrals for specialist or long stay beds – i.e. forensic, rehab or other tertiary referrals - as I am referring only to acute admissions that had to be sent to another Trust (often out of hours) as a result of periodic bed pressures within your own area.

I would also be grateful if you could break the information down as follows;

i) Totals for each month (over the last 36 months).
ii) Gender ratios (i.e. what percentage was male and what percentage was female).
iii) Which Trusts you made these referrals to (totals for each year).

reasonably require clarification from you.  We note that you are
requesting information on the out of area referrals over the past 3
financial years however, your last question refers to which NHS Trust the
referral was made to and we would appreciate your confirmation of whether
you are only interested in out of area referrals to other NHS Trusts or
whether you would like us to review and interrogate our information for
all out of area referrals regardless of whether the provider is another
NHS Trust. 

 

Finally, your kind confirmation of the three year period of interest to
you would be appreciated so we can ensure continuity in the information
provided i.e. the last two financial years and 2013/2014 to date or the
last three full financial years.

 

In line with the Act, I confirm the timescales for processing your request

2011/2012, 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 (to date).

 

Please see attached our response to your request for information. 
Unfortunately, we are unable to break down the figures on a month by month
basis for the year 2011/2012 but have supplied the total figure for this
period.  In addition, I confirm that our information does not enable us to
search by gender and, therefore, we have not been able to split the
numbers in this way. 

 

I confirm that the information attached completes your request for
information and also confirm that no fee has been incurred on this
occasion.  Please accept our sincere apologies for the delay in providing
this response.
