We are writing in response to your email received by Post Office Limited (“Post 
Office”) on 28 June, which has been dealt with under the terms of the Freedom of 
Information Act 2000 (“FOIA”). 
 
In your email you have requested the information shown in bold below: 
 
“On how many occasions in the last financial year have POL appointed external 
legal advisors to conduct internal independent investigations on their behalf? 
 
What has been the total expenditure to POL of instructing external legal 
advisors?” 
 
We can confirm that Post Office does hold some of the information you have 
requested. 
 
In the last financial year April 2022 to March 2023, we have had two occasions 
where Post Office had appointed external legal advisors to conduct or assist on 
internal investigations. Neither of these investigations are complete, and therefore 
we are unable to advise of the total expenditure to Post Office. 
 
If you are dissatisfied with the handling of this response, you do have a right to
