Freedom of Information Requests, General Dental Council

Dear Mr Hudson,

Thank you for your request for information or requesting how many GDC expert witnesses who gave evidence before the PCC were criticised in the PCC determination.

Your request was received on 16 April 2018 and has been allocated to the GDC’s Information governance team to provide a response. We are dealing with it under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (‘the FOI Act’).

The GDC will process your request promptly, however, please note the FOI Act allows public authorities (the GDC) up to 20 working days to provide a response – the statutory deadline is therefore 15 May 2018

To enable us to search our records to see whether we hold any information that falls within the scope of your request please can you clarify how you wish us to interpret the word criticism? Do you wish for us to include cases where the Professional Conduct Committee may have rejected the evidence of the expert or do you wish for us to only include cases where there is a specific criticism? You may be aware that under section 10(6) of the Freedom of Information act authorities are not obliged to answer a request where they reasonably require further information in order to identify and locate the information requested and has informed the applicant of that requirement. The statutory deadline for us to respond to your request will be extended by the time it takes for you to provide the clarification we require.

Yours sincerely,

Grace Perry
