Expenditure on judicial review of local government reoganisation
Dear Cumbria County Council,
I understand that your council ,is to be represented at the judicial review called by yourselves.
This will presumably include both internal as officers time and external expenditure.
What expenditure has been incurred to date and what is the best estimate of the expenditure by the council to gain the appropriate level of representation?
Both if the matter is taken to it’s conclusion or if it is aborted.
Yours faithfully,
Anthony William COLES

Dear Information Governance,
Apologies missed your reply.
Interestingly similar requests were made to five other authorities who understood the issue and have given full replies.
Essentially I was seeking an assessment the of costs incurred at the initial stage ie external and internal legal and administrative costs and the level of such costs likely to be incurred if the procedure proceeded to it's potential conclusion.
Clearly decisions to initiate any such action should have been subject to a financial assessment and thus be readily available.
Yours sincerely,
Anthony William COLES
