Exmouth docks

The request was partially successful.

Dear UK Hydrographic Office, I am looking to produce a book about Exmouth docks in its last years as a commercial dock, and are wondering if a plan of the docks exists from the period.

Yours faithfully,

Aaron Oxford

Dear Tamsin

I have conducted a search of our relevant survey ledgers to determine
whether we have any plans of Exmouth docks submitted during the 1980's.
The only document listed for this period is entitled:

Exmouth Harbour and approaches dated 1987 and submitted by Herrington
Geoscience Associates (UKHO document reference M1011). There is also a
file H2798/84 and Admiralty chart 2290. I’ve attached a low resolution
image of the published chart of River Exe from 2005 which does include the
docks. Unfortunately home working means we only have access to existing
digital images and it doesn’t appear we have any of chart 2290 that date
to the 1980’s. We will need to access the paper record copies which
clearly isn’t possible at the moment.

All the documents mentioned are subject to copyright while access to M1011
can only be permitted if permission is granted by the data owner ie:
Herrington Geoscience Associates. Please note that the customer will need
to obtain this and provide us with written consent from the data owner. We
will need to physically examine the file to determine if the contents are
relevant and releasable if this is of interest. A reproduction of a 1980’s
version of the published chart 2290 can be purchased (when we resume
regular access to the collection) but he will also need to contact
copyright [21]intellectual.property@ukho/gov.uk if he wants to publish
this.

Hope this helps.
