Dear University of Cambridge,

I am requesting under the FOI act that the university release material provided to examiners in marking examinees. I request that the links to the google drive be provided directly in response to this email, and hence available publicly at whatdotheyknow.com More specifically, I am requesting access to the google drive folders that have been provided in response to other FOI requests(FOI-2024-15, providing years 2006-2018 by Adir Mohammed). Additionally, I request that the information provided in regards to the 2016 part IA exams be verified. The information provided to Tony Norman, FOI-2023-375, seems to be inaccurate for section I paper 1, Vectors and Matrices, as the solutions and title reflect the 2015 exams.

Yours faithfully,

Mr A. Smith

To whomever may read this,

In ordinary circumstances, it would be true that University of Cambridge has the right to withhold this information, however, time and time again, Uni of Cam has consistently demonstrated that it is willing to act contrary to these hypotehtical interests. Anyone who asks individually is provided the requested information, with specific examples and their FOI reference number provided in my request. If the information requested were truly against the commercial interests of Uni of Cam, it would not be provided to anyone under the FOIA. I merely ask that the information be openly and immediately available, and not gatekept to a certain few who are willing to jump through hoops. As a student at cambridge myself, I can attest in my own experience that said information is not provided to students, as confirmed by my director of studies. I cannot forsee any supervisor using past exams from earlier than 2018, it is unreasonable to use anything other than the past 5 years of exams. It is such a shame that an incredible educational resource has found itself gathering dust, locked away by the University of Cambridge, contrary to the interest of the public, and even to that of its own student body.

I look forward to your response

Mr A. Smith

Dear Mr Smith,

As you will know, on 30 August 2024 the Information Commissioner issued a
Decision Notice concerning your complaint about the University’s response
to your FOI request dated 6 March 2024 (IC-304494-S4S4; FOI-2024-216),
being the request published at
[1]https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/e...

Paragraph 3 of that Decision Notice read:

“The Commissioner requires the public authority to take the following
steps to ensure compliance with the legislation.

·         Disclose the information it has relied upon the exemptions to
withhold.”

This email fulfils that requirement.

The materials are compiled. As the file is over 400MB, it is not feasible
to email, even across split files. We have therefore uploaded a copy to a
Google Drive for you to access and download; the link is:
