Dear Royal College of Anaesthetists,

I am writing to make a formal request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I am requesting information regarding the pass rates of the FRCA primary SBA exam for doctors, broken down by their grade, deanery of training and the number of previous attempts.

Specifically, I would like to know:

1. The overall pass rate of the anaesthetist exam for doctors.

2. The pass rates for each grade of doctor who has taken the anaesthetist exam.

3. The pass rates for each deanery of training for doctors who have taken the anaesthetist exam.

4. The pass rate of doctors in relation to number of attempts ie 80% first attempt, 98% second attempt.

I would appreciate it if you could provide me with this information in electronic format. If you require any further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact me.
I want to use this information to help inform future trainees regarding deanery choice and also timing of exam.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Yours faithfully,

Christopher Mckee

Dear Mr Mckee, I just need clarification on your request before I can
respond to your request. We do not deliver FRCA Primary SBA examination.
We deliver FRCA Primary MCQ Examination, is this the exam you are
requesting information about?.

Also, am I right to assume you are requesting this information for
2022/2023?

Kind regards

Samara
