Dear Mr. Ovens

Freedom of Information Enquiry: CHI05E30F5

Thank you for your information request dated 27/11/2009.

I am happy to supply you with the information you requested.

From the period 1999/2000 to 2008/2009 the total receipt from Council
house sales was **28,054,802.

There were 1332 properties being sold between 1st January 1999 until the
22nd December 2009.

Until after 2004 we were only permitted to spend a percentage of the
capital receipts on Housing Capital expenditure the rest had to be used
repay the previous borrowing for council houses. Of the **28.05m, **14.7m
has been used to repay previous borrowing prior to 2004 with the balance
of **13.35m going on housing capital expenditure.

Housing capital expenditure would include repairs and improvements to the
councils current housing stock.

For further information/statistics there is a range of information some of
which we provide to the Scottish Government about council house sales. If
you have access to the internet, you may also find further useful
information at
http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Statis...

Yours sincerely

Andrew Hunter
