Dear Mr Jeffrey,
FOI request: FOI-502
Thank you for your request dated 15/09/2023
Our response is as follows:
Please provide me with evidence that your complaints page and form that it
links to complies with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WAG)
guidelines in line with Government Digital Service (GDS).
The page I am referring to is:
[1]https://eur01.safelinks.protection.outlo...
The form is accessible from the same page via a button.
The complaints page (at
[2]https://www.royalgreenwich.gov.uk/info/2...)
is fully compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1,
at Level AA.
The form that it links to is partially compliant, due to one outstanding
non-compliance:
· If a screenreader user makes a mistake while filling in the form
(for example, they miss a mandatory field), the form will say that there
is an error but it will not announce what or where the error is. This
fails WCAG 2.1 success criteria 3.3.1 (Error Identification), 3.3.3 (Error
Suggestion) and 4.1.3 (Status Messages). This is due to a technical
limitation with the platform that hosts the online form. We are currently
in the process of launching a new council website, which will fix this
issue.
Royal Greenwich conducts regular accessibility testing of the website
against WCAG 2.1. This includes external audits by third parties. The most
recent audit was conducted in January 2023. You can find further
information about this, including how to report any issues you have
encountered, in the website’s Accessibility Statement (at

If you have any queries about this correspondence, please contact me,
quoting the reference number above.
If you are not satisfied with our response to your request, you can ask
for an Internal Review. Internal review requests must be submitted within
two months of the date of receipt of the response to your original
request. If you wish to do this, please contact us in writing, setting
out why you are dissatisfied.
If you are not satisfied with the outcome of the Internal Review, you may
apply directly to the Information Commissioner (ICO) for a decision.
Generally, the ICO cannot make a decision unless you have exhausted the
Internal Review procedure provided by the Council. You can contact the ICO
by emailing [4][email address], or by post at Customer Contact,
Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow,
SK9 5AF.
