Dear John West,

Request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000

In response to your request for information received at this office on
19^th August 2016, please see the Council’s response below.

Our responses to Questions 1-4 are subject to the following explanation:

In 2012-13, Bolton Council and the other councils in the Greater
Manchester area, worked together to coordinate the installation of
electric vehicle charging points around Greater Manchester.  The project
was coordinated by TfGM and the installation was carried out by Charge
Your Car with funding from the government office, OLEV.  Bolton Council
contributed officer time and in some cases car parking space for charge
points but did not contribute other capital funding (ref Q1b).  The
electric charge points in the Bolton district are in public car parks,
accessible to the public, staff and visitors (subject to parking terms &
conditions) but not owned by the council (ref Q1a, Q4a/b).  The charge
points are modern, fast-charge (7kW) units with type-2 connections (Q2).
Bolton Council is not involved in any specific plans to develop the EV
charging network; however, the council remains interested to consider
proposals (Q3).
