European University Tbilisi, Georgia
Dear General Medical Council,
Can you please confirm if you have any recently registered doctors whom obtained their qualification from European university of Tbilisi and if there has been any applicant that have been rejected or any applicants currently awaiting decision.
Also the University is on not accepted list since last week. Is this because of any irregularity or to do something with their curriculam?
I am in the last semester of the first year and will it be a problem if I try and get a transfer to a different university from the 2nd year?
Is this list subject to change and how often you update the Not Accepted List?
Many thanks
Yours faithfully,
Mignon Peiris

Dear Mignon
Your information access request
Thank you for your email dated 3 July 2023. I’ve considered your request
under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA). Please see my response
to your request below in red.
1. Can you please confirm if you have any recently registered doctors
whom obtained their qualification from European university of Tbilisi.
• I can confirm that we have zero doctors registered from this awarding
body.
2. If there has been any applicants that have been rejected or any
applicants currently awaiting decision.
• There have been zero rejected applicants and there are two applicants
currently awaiting a decision.
3. The University is on not accepted list since last week. Is this
because of any irregularity or to do something with their curriculum?
• The reason that this awarding body was added to the list of
qualifications we do not accept for those who commenced study before
2019, is because the awarding body confirmed the course to be under
5500 hours once non-allopathic subjects have been removed. For those
who commenced study after 2019, the qualification is on the list of
qualifications we may accept.
4. I am in the last semester of the first year and will it be a problem
if I try and get a transfer to a different university from the 2nd
year?
• I'm afraid that we cannot give advice on your circumstances under
FOIA. If you need any advice on the application process please email
[1][email address]
5. Is this list subject to change and how often you update the Not
Accepted List?
• Yes it is subject to change but there is no set timescale, it is
dependent on information being received from awarding bodies and/or
intelligence being received about awarding bodies which prompts us to
review them.
I hope you find the information that I was able to provide useful. If you
have any queries about this, or need anything further, please contact me
on the details below.
Yours sincerely
