EU Settlement Scheme statistics (automated checks, administrative review and costs)

The request was partially successful.

Dear Home Office,

I am interested in the EU Settlement Scheme which was rolled out for all EU nationals in the UK on 30th March 2019. The most recent statistics released on 20th June 2019 state that 788,200 applications have been received by the 31st May 2019 with 668,000 concluded (available here: https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics...).

Please could you, within the limits of the FOIA, provide answers to the following questions, as far is possible:

1. How many decisions under the EU Settlement Scheme have been made based on evidence provided through the automated checks alone (i.e. without requiring further evidence from applicants)?

2. How many applications for administrative review have been received since the rollout of the EU Settlement Scheme?

3. Of any administrative reviews undertaken, what were the outcomes of these reviews? (If possible, please include a breakdown of how many resulted in granting pre-settled or settled status)

4. What is the current overall cost of the settlement scheme so far?

If you cannot answer one question, please answer those questions that you are able to.

Yours faithfully,

Alice Welsh

Dear J Rushton,

Many thanks for your reply and the information that you could provide. I look forward to seeing the further statistics and information on automated decisions in the future.

I have a short follow up question regarding the administrative reviews:

What number of administrative review fees have been refunded?

Yours faithfully,

Alice Welsh
