Thank you for your request which we received on 10th April, in which you
requested the following:
 
     a) A list of all funds the University invests in, coupled with the
     monetary value in GBP the University holds in each individual fund.
 
     b) A list of all Unit Trusts the University invests in, coupled
     with the monetary value in GBP the University holds in each
     individual unit trust.
 
     c) A list of all Property assets the University holds a stake in,
     coupled with the monetary value in GBP of each property and share
     of each property held by the University.
 
     d) A list of all shares not held by an external fund, trust, or
     group, the University holds, coupled with the monetary amount in
     GBP the University holds in shares for each organisation, and the
     number of shares for each organisation.
 
     e) A list of all private equity the University invests in, coupled
     with the monetary value in GBP the University holds in each private
     equity investment.
 
     f) Details of any direct payments, donations, or other exchanges of
     finance, goods, or services between the University and BAE, GKN, or
     other arms manufacturers; Shell,
     BP or other oil companies; or any pharmaceuticals. Including the
     monetary value of any transaction, date, and reason.
 
     The deadline for responding to this request for information is 8th
May.

Dear Mr Tindall,
 
I am writing in response to your recent request for information under the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 ('the Act').
 

The University does not ordinarily invest directly in the shares of
companies, although we do have shareholdings in our Subsidiary Companies. 
In endeavouring to invest in the best financial interests of the
University, the Investments Committee have elected to invest the assets in
pooled funds.  Under section 1(1)(a) of the Act I can confirm that the
University does not hold details of the shareholdings of each of these
funds, nor can it influence in which companies the pooled funds invest. 
Shareholdings are publicly available via the websites of the individual
fund.

 

The Subsidiary Companies in which the University owns shares are as
follows:

Abertec Ltd  

University owns whole of issued share capital of Abertec Ltd, £1

See3D Ltd   

University owns 75% of the issues share capital of See3D Limited, £51,000

 

The distribution of the Endowment fund’s assets are as follows:

The University does not hold a stake in any property assets other than
those which form its own Estate.
