Dear Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy,

In August 2022, the North Sea Transition Authority published their latest UKCS Decommissioning cost estimate for 2022. It states that the total estimated cost of decommissioning UKCS upstream oil and gas infrastructure fell by £1.5bn (2%) to £44.5bn in 2021.

The cost estimate (https://www.nstauthority.co.uk/decommiss...) states that progress highlights to date include reduced "cost to the Exchequer of tax relief and
refunds."

Could you please provide the latest available estimate of the total cost to the Exchequer of UKCS decommissioning tax relief and refunds?

Yours faithfully,

Ryan Morrison
