Dear High Speed Two (HS2) Limited,

Since we have just been treated to some spin about the 'high cost and effect of cancellation': https://www.51m.co.uk/cost-to-the-public...
I'd like an actual, realistic estimate of the cancellation cost (raw costs, setting aside benefits from reuse and repurposing) of HS2, as of summer 2019.

Also a one page spreadsheet and executive summary of supporting material for the figure.

I imagine this is already between the hand of a senior civil servant, so this should be an 'easy one' to answer.

Yours faithfully,

Hugh Barnard

Dear High Speed Two (HS2) Limited,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of High Speed Two (HS2) Limited's handling of my FOI request 'Estimated Cost of Cancellation of HS2'.

Apparently HS2 has no grasp whatsoever of the cancellation costs of their project. This suggests that, as with Crossrail recently, the higher levels of this project are exceptionally badly managed. Also I expect cancellation formulae and charges to be in any significant contract, unless negotiated by the very naive (given the other expensive messes, Crossrail, 'Garden Bridge' and, for example BBC DMI, this is possible).

I'm now asking you to review this request, rather than fobbing off as you first preference and will contact the information commissioner and parliament if you 'really have no idea'.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/e...

Yours faithfully,

Hugh Barnard
