The request was partially successful.

Dear Essex County Council,

Please provide all relevant information in all recorded forms regarding the following:

Are your social workers and other members of your social care teams in-house or under contract? With which company/ies is/are the contract/s, please?

Or with which other local authority do you share responsibility, or have you turned over responsibility to, for providing social care?

Please could you let us know what training and qualifications your social workers must have to be able to work with vulnerable adults.

What is their job title? Please provide a person specification and job description.

Are there social care assistant roles in social care teams?
Are they allowed to take the same responsibilities as social workers when working with vulnerable adults? Can they make the same decisions about a client as a fully qualified social worker?

Please provide an adult social care staffing hierarchy and responsibility tree, which includes all levels of responsibility.

Has there been any re-organisation of social care recently, or in certain teams / departments? If so, why was this?

How have staffing numbers changed over the last ten years till now?

Many thanks,

Yours faithfully,

P. Smith

Dear Your Right To Know,

Could you please clarify ...

What qualifications does an 'Adult Social Care Support Worker' in Essex CC have, and are they the same thing as a fully qualified social worker?

If not ...

How many do you have currently? How many did you have 10 years ago?

How many fully qualified social workers do you have, and how many did you have 10 years ago?

Are they given the same level of responsibility as a fully qualified social worker?

Many thanks,

Yours sincerely,

P. Smith
