Dear Yorkshire Water Services Limited,
I am concerned about the environmental impact of the discharge of sewage from systems operated and maintained by Yorkshire Water in the village of North Newbald. Please supply me with the following information.

The number of occasions, dates and locations in the last 5 years that Yorkshire Water has received reports concerning the discharge or leakage of sewage from their sewage system within North Newbald.

On how many of these occasions has sewage been discharged into areas accessible to the public including highways and watercourses.

Were known, the cause of these discharges and the remedial action taken.

In order to avoid the potential release of any personal information please note that I do not require the detailed address of these locations, the street or nearest junction will suffice.

Dear Paul Cheeseman,

 

I refer to your request for information submitted to Yorkshire Water dated
27 November 2020.

 

Please find attached the data which you have requested.  Included with
this email are the response to your questions in red.

 

 1. The number of occasions, dates and locations in the last 5 years that

We have run a text report and filtered on all current and old jobs codes
used to attend internal, external sewer flooding and pollution events.
These  job codes represent the initial site visit following a report of a
flooding event and it doesn’t include any follow on work raised to resolve
the situation. Therefore this give a good representations of the number of
occasions and why we attended site. The attached text report shows all YW
activities in the area.

If you look at the pivot table it shows the total of each job in the area
past and present. All external escapes and PARTNER VISIT Jet VAN
(highlighted Yellow) could have resulted in Yorkshire Water finding sewer
in the garden, highway or public space.  

Yorkshire Water will always find and repair any defect or damage to our
asset to ensure working as designed – this may involve dig work, jetting
and patch lining.

I trust that the provision of this data satisfies your request.  In
accordance with the Environmental Information Regulations 2004, if you are
not satisfied with this reply to your request you can ask for an internal
review.  A request for an internal review must be submitted within 40
working days by contacting the Data Protection Team.
