Equality Objectives and Equality Analysis 2016/17
Dear Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust,
Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust Foundation (BSMHTF) set the following equality objective under the title Equality Objectives 2016/17:
To improve outcomes and experiences for BME service users Treatment patterns are inequitable as are reported outcomes for BME service users and measures such as use of restraint. BME service users report poorer experiences of treatment. As demographic of Birmingham becomes increasingly diverse – it is more likely that our services will be increasingly reflective of this demographic – and therefore increases the imperative that we excel in providing services for this client group.
In relation to the above equality objective I would like the following information which should have already been published:
1. Please confirm that exact date that the above equality objective was set?
2. Please provide the equality analysis that informed the above objective? In particular, please provide the equality analysis relating to ethnic inequalities in restraint and poorer outcomes of treatment?
3. Please confirm the timeframe that these equality objectives were intended to be achieved by?
4. Please confirm the activities that have taken place towards addressing the inequality identified in the above equality objective?
5. Please provide the equality analysis for each subsequent year since the above equality objective was set showing differences in rate of restraint and poorer outcomes of treatment?
6. Please confirm where all of the above information has been published as is required under the Public Sector Equality Duty S149.
Yours faithfully,
Tony Salla
