Dear FOI - E&E,

This would essentially be for the Goring Ward and for the period when the bus subsidy cut was mooted / implemented so would assume the past 18 months. This would also be for correspondence originating from and to councillors.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Bowen

Oxfordshire County Council

Please accept our apologies. The email address used by the Council has unusual punctuation in it and this appears to be not handled well by the software running our website.

I have contacted the software developers about this, most urgently to enable us to send the response to the correct address and also to see if there's adjustments that can be done to prevent similar happening in the future.

In the meantime, if you select "Send a Follow-up" you are given the option as to which of the authority's responses you wish to send the message. You may wish to consider doing so and selecting a different address in the authority.

I am sorry, and I will keep you updated as to what's going on with this bug.

Our system administrator has examine the logs and determined that the follow-up to Oxfordshire has actually been sent to the correct address in addition as to the incorrect address. The response from Oxfordshire confirms this.

The issue is caused by our software's processing of unusual email addresses. In this instance, the email address used by Oxfordshire has an & symbol in it. We have previously identified a similar instance where an ' was part of an address. https://github.com/mysociety/alaveteli/i...

The software developers and administrators are examining the issue to see how exactly it occurs and if it can be prevented from occurring.

Sorry about that
