Equality Impact Assessment on decision to drop compulsory Equality Impact Assessments

Rory MacKinnon made this Freedom of Information request to Home Office

Home Office did not have the information requested.

From: Rory MacKinnon

20 November 2012

Dear Home Office,

I would like to request any and all versions, draft or otherwise,
of the Cabinet Office’s equality impact assessment on the
government's policy (announced by home secretary Theresa May on 17
Nov 2010) of abolishing public bodies' legal requirement for
equality impact assessments.

If no formal equality impact assessment exists, please supply me
instead with any and all written and email correspondence, minutes,
memos, or transcripts of text messages between Home secretary
Theresa May and members of the Home Office from January 2010 to
January 2011 that specifically discuss the aforementioned policy
with due regard for the Equality Act 2010.

By this I mean that I am specifically requesting any of the above
forms of documentation which show evidence that the relevant
equality issues have been considered, "the likely or actual effects
of policies or services on people in respect of disability, gender
and racial equality".

I am happy to receive these documents in either hard or soft copy,
and am happy to receive individual documents within the mandatory
response time as they become available.

Please let me know by email as soon as possible whether you are
able to meet this request or if such an assessment is the
responsibility of another department.

Yours faithfully,

Rory MacKinnon
