Equality Duty Information

Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner did not have the information requested.

Dear Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner,

As a public sector organisation, Merseyside Police is legally bound by the Equality Duty.

The specific duties require public bodies to

Annually publish information to demonstrate its compliance with the general Equality Duty.
and
At least every four years, prepare and publish one or more measurable Equality Objectives to assist to achieve any of the aims of the Equality Duty.

Although Merseyside Police has a page on their website for Equality & Diversity
https://www.merseyside.police.uk/documen...
the Information is out of date with the last publication being from 2016

Equality Objectives have not been published nor have they demonstrated what has been done to achieve their Equality Objectives. This requirement has been in place since 2012.

In view of the above could you please advise on the following 8 questions:-

1. How is Equality & Diversity compliance monitored within the force ?
2. Who has overall responsibility for Equality & Diversity?
3. Has the annual data been produced?
4. Have Equality Objectives been set?
5. If so how many Equality Objectives does Merseyside Police have in place?
6. Who decides on the force Equality Objective(s)
7. How is progress against the Equality objectives monitored
8. What role does the PCC and Chief Constable play in monitoring of Equality & Diversity.

Yours faithfully,

Mr C Mortimer

OPCC, Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner
