Dear Mr Young,

Where a public authority decides that an applicant has formulated a request in too general a manner, it is required to advise the applicant within 20 working days of receipt of the request and provide assistance to the applicant in formulating a manageable request. This is set out in Reg. 9 Environmental Information Regulations (EIR).

Please find attached the email I sent you on 30 June, in which I asked you to provide a beginning date. We have not received a response from you and therefore your request has not yet been processed. We will be happy to begin processing your request once you have provided us with a beginning date for the reports that you seek.

the date on which we receive your clarification will be treated as the date after which the period of 20 working days will be calculated. This is also in accordance with Reg 9 EIR.
