Environmental Impact Assessment Proposed Crematorium - Woodhatch, Reigate
Dear Reigate and Banstead Borough Council,
Am slightly surprised the decision has been take regarding the proposed complex that there is to be no Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) to be carried out with your comment/opinion that "it has been concluded that the proposal is not likely to have a significant effect on the environment" referring.
You make reference to Schedules 2 and 3 of current legislation Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2017, which I am of the opinion you may have taken a subjective approach at best insofar as compliance.
Without doubt, or subjection, this green belt land proposed, is home, and is rich, to many forms of wildlife. This is an actual statement of fact and is uncontentious. In addition, it is a haven for local residents, from dog walkers and ramblers to local Scout and community organisations. Clearly under this mantra, an EIA would be in the public and local community interest. Even if it was deemed subjectively complaint with the 2017 Regulations, there is as I am understanding significant public interest and an EIA in the public domain would be helpful to all concerned.
REQUEST:
Please can Reigate and Banstead Borough Council publish extracts from any meetings to declare the rational leading to a decision that "concluded that the proposal is not likely to have a significant effect on the environment."
I am particularly keen to see the engagement with the local community, local (or indeed any) conservation organisation or responses to any objections submitted by the local community in regards to the environmental impact.
CAVEAT:
I am happy any documents be redacted as necessary and likewise if a cost is attributed to this request, I am happy to make such a payment
Yours faithfully,
Mr M P Hay
