Dear V. Thomas

FOI-2020-07-05-01

Further to your request for information please find below the response from UCAS in regard to the specific information you have requested.

UCAS can identify applicants with a BTEC Extended Diploma reported through our Awarding Body Linkage, but we would not be able to identify whether this is their primary qualification, as qualifications are not ordered in this way. I have attached a folder containing the data, but please let us know if you have any difficulty opening it. Please see the PDF document for an explanation of the spreadsheets. Please note that disclosure controls are applied to the data to reduce the risk of disclosing personal data about identifiable individuals. For counts, the controls include reporting each cell count to the nearest five. In particular cell counts of 1 and 2 are reported as 0. Rows that only report 0 are omitted from the output. These controls are applied to each cell independently so this may result in instances where totals do not equal the sum of the components.

Regarding your second request, you can find information in our End of Cycle Resources here: https://www.ucas.com/data-and-analysis/u.... In the Menu, you can click on Nursing Applicants and then Acceptance Route. If you need more detail than on the website, this can be purchased through our EXACT commissioned analysis service. More information on the EXACT service can be found on our website: https://www.ucas.com/corporate/data-and-.... As above, disclosure controls are applied to the data to reduce the risk of disclosing personal data about identifiable individuals. For counts, the controls include reporting each cell count to the nearest five. In particular cell counts of 1 and 2 are reported as 0. Rows that only report 0 are omitted from the output. These controls are applied to each cell independently so this may result in instances where totals do not equal the sum of the components.

In terms of the data available on our website and upon payment (through the EXACT service), as this information is accessible by other means, it is exempt from disclosure under Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

If you are not satisfied with the way in which we have responded to your request you may:

1) Contact us requesting that this matter is reviewed internally by UCAS. Your request will then be subject to our internal review process.
2) If you remain dissatisfied with the outcome of your internal review, you can contact the Information Commissioner's Office. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at: The Information Commissioner's Office,
Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF, telephone 0303 1231113, or for further details see their website www.ico.org.uk

Kind regards,
Jessica
