Enquire about admission statistics
Dear Cardiff University,
I was wondering if it would be possible to produce a breakdown of admissions statistics for the School's postgraduate courses related to education in the 2018-2020 entry years. I hope that the School would provide the latest statistics for the postgraduate courses related to education admissions. If the data for the 2020 entry year is yet unavailable, I'd wish for a document of the 2018-2019 entry statistics.
Furthermore, I'd also like to know about the undergraduate admission statistics for Chinese students (Chinese mainland) in 2018-2020, including the number of applicants and the number of offers made in general.
I apologize for the inconvenience that my request would inevitably bring and I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
berry chan

Dear InfoRequest,
I am apologize for unclear words. I am interested in Education MSC. So I hope that the school would provide the admission statistics about this postgraduate course.
Sorry for any inconvenience of my request.

Dear Berry,
I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request dated 22nd
May 2020.
For ease of reference, I have reproduced your questions below and set out
our corresponding responses.
I was wondering if it would be possible to produce a breakdown of
admissions statistics for the School's postgraduate courses related to
education in the 2018-2020 entry years. I hope that the School would
provide the latest statistics for the postgraduate courses related to
education admissions. If the data for the 2020 entry year is yet
unavailable, I'd wish for a document of the 2018-2019 entry statistics.
Academic Year of Applications Offers Made Enrolments
Course Name Entry
MSc Education, Policy 2018/9 239 90 21
and Society 2019/0 361 245 43
Please note that the Education MSc is a new programme which is due to
start in September 2020. The admissions cycle for 2020 entry is still in
progress. The University is unable to release information on the current
cycle of applications in light of Section 43 of the Freedom of Information
Act. The University operates in a competitive environment for students and
feels that to release such information at this stage may impact on its
ability to attract students.
In applying the Section 43 exemption the University has taken account of
the public interest as required by the Act. The University has reviewed
the arguments in favour of disclosing the information (openness and
transparency in public life) and found them to be outweighed by the
greater general public interest in protection of the University's
competitive edge and market positioning.
Furthermore, I'd also like to know about the postgraduate admission
statistics for Chinese students (Chinese mainland) in 2018-2020, including
the number of applicants and the number of offers made in general.

2018/9 13715 10639 1650
2019/0 18977 14504 2036
I trust this information satisfies your enquiry. The University has a
Freedom of Information Complaints Procedure should you feel dissatisfied
with this response or the way in which your request was handled.
Complaints must be made in writing and must set out why you believe the
University has not met its obligations under the Freedom of Information
Act. You may email your complaint to [1][email address] where it
will be forwarded to the Director of Strategic Planning and Governance who
will be responsible for overseeing the review.
If you remain dissatisfied following the outcome of your complaint, you
have the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for
consideration. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at the
following address: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House,
Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in
Cardiff University. If you require further assistance please feel free to
contact me.
Yours sincerely
