Enforcement of Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards for private domestic landlords
Dear Greenwich Borough Council,
I would like to request the following information:
1. How many compliance notices have been issued by your authority where the landlord appears to be, or to have been at any time within the 12 months beforehand, in breach of MEES regulation 27.
2. How many penalty notices have been issued by your authority under MEES regulation 38.
3. How many properties have been subject to a publication penalty.
4. Whether you are using landlords licensing schemes to secure compliance with MEES and if so, how many properties have been found to be in compliance at time of application, and how many have been brought up to the required standard as a result of the licensing scheme.
5. What percentage of private rented domestic properties in your borough covered by MEES are now in compliance.

Not yet known, as we are going to begin soon a MEES enforcement project
following which we should have those kinds of figures, possibly in a year
or so.

Royal Borough of Greenwich designated 5 Ward of the borough for Selective
Licensing in October 2022. To date, we have processed a total of 1206
licence applications of which 4 properties were non-compliance that we are
in process of dealing with.
