Enforcement of Covid restrictions

We're waiting for Tim Meadley to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Kent Police,
While I am strongly in favour of increased police action to enforce restrictions relating to the spread of Covid, I am concerned that such actions may not be being taken equitably. In particular, while there have been numerous reports of the police breaking up gatherings (in one particular, well-publicised, case in another jurisdiction, only two people were involved and they had not even actually met up) and in many cases issuing fixed penalty notices to those who are involved, these seem to be applied only to UK residents.

I have not seen any reports of similar action being directed towards illegal immigrants/asylum seekers crossing the Channel, in spite of there being numerous media stories showing such people arriving in groups travelling in close proximity to each other. These people would appear to have been in breach of the restrictions from the time that they crossed into UK territorial waters.

Nor have I seen any reports of police action being taken against illegal immirants housed in camps in Kent who appear to be gathering together frequently in large groups.

My request, therefore, is to know, in relation to the enforcement of the Covid-related legislation:
(1) how many immigrants have, on arrival on UK soil, been subject to Kent police action,
(2) how many residents of camps housing asylum seekers, have been issued with penalty notices or subject to other enforcement action,
(3)for comparison purposes, how many other persons have been sanctioned in the County.

Yours faithfully,
Tim Meadley
